Analysis on Gene Polymorphism of Myostatin andCarcass Traits of Peking Duck

Abstract

Abstract: Myostatin gene is expressed specifically in developing and mature skeletal muscle, and the expression products of myostatin gene inhibits muscle growth and differentiation. The polymorphism of the Peking duck myostatin gene was researched by PCR-SSCP. The SSCP was found in the myostatin gene promoter region. It showed two genotypes(AA,AB)in Z2 line and Z4 line of Peking ducks. The relationship between polymorphism in promoter and productive performance was analyzed. Variance analysis showed that AA genotype birds had significant higher weight of abdominal fat (P＜0.05 )and breast meat（P＜0.10） than AB genotype in different lines. Therefore, Myostatin gene could be taken as the candidate gene.
