Abstract

Abstract: To investigate hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection among pigs in Henan province and control the swine hepatitis E virus genotype,the HEV-IgG antibody was applied to screen the swine sera collected from commercial pig farms in Henan region with commercial DS-ELISA kit. Liver and fecal samples were tested for HEV RNA with nested RT-PCR. Our data indicated that among 530 samples tested,3 swine serum samples were positive for HEV-IgG antibody,the seroprevalence rate was 0.6％ in general and all the samples were negative for HEV RNA. It was shown that swine hepatitis E virus was at low infection rate in Henan province.
