Abstract: In order to analyze the causes of calf diarrhea in Nanjing, 27 strains bacteria were isolated from the material of diarrhea calves. The cultured characteristics, staining characteristics, biochemical characteristics, serotype characteristics, drug susceptibility and TEM, SHV, CTX-M-1, CTX-M-9 type extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBLs) gene of 27 strains bacteria were detected. The results showed that 27 strains bacteria were all E.coli, and only one bacteria was resistant for cephalothin, cefazolin and cefuroxime, and this strain was detected in CTX-M-1 type extended-spectrum β-lactamase gene. The results showed that calf diarrhea were caused by E.coli, the calf diarrhea E.coli could produce CTX-M-1-type extended-spectrum β-lactamase to resolve cephalosporin antibiotic that led to drug resistance.
