Diagnosis and Treatment of Cherry Valley Duck Colibacillosis

Abstract: Duck Colibacillosis was the general term of the multitype diseases caused by pathogenic E.coli. There were numerous clinical disease types, of which the most serious harm for the ducklings,the disease was sepsis and egg yolk peritonitis (egg plague) in duck industry. Since March 2012 in some large-scale duckery of Panjin city, more than 2000 Cherry Valley ducks with 186-day-old were infected with the symptoms mainly for egg production rate dropping, spirit fatigue, loss of appetite, diarrhea and the sick duck abdominal swelling, drooping, the fatality rate was about 4% in the later period. Through clinical observation, pathological examination and laboratory tests confirmed this duck E.coli disease. Based on drug susceptibility testing results, after selection of extremely sensitive to amikacin treatment and comprehensive measures, the disease was quickly controlled.
