Genetic Effect Analysis of the MspⅠ Locus in Exon 2 of the IGFBP-3 Gene on the Reproduction Traits in the Bian Chicken

Abstract: Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the MspⅠ locus in exon 2 of the IGFBP-3 gene was detected in the Bian chicken by PCR-RFLP. The relationship with reproduction traits in the Bian chicken was also analysed. The results showed that a C→T mutation in the 1087 bp of the IGFBP-3 gene was detected. Three genotypes (CC, CT and TT) were displayed, and the allele C was the predominant allele. The least square means analysis showed Bian chickens of the CT genotype had significantly higher body weight at first egg than those of CC genotytpe (P<0.05). The differences for the other four reproduction traits (age at first egg, weight of first egg, egg number at 300 days and egg weight at 300 days) among the 3 genotypes in Bian chicken were not significant (P>0.05).
