The Effects of Dietary Chinese Herbal Medicine Additive on Growth Performance and Meat Quality of Jinghai Yellow Chicken

Abstract: To investigate the different complex additives of Chinese herbal medicine on growth performance and meat quality of Jinghai yellow chicken. One hundred and sixty one day-old Jinghai yellow chicken were randomly divided into four groups, group A, group B, group C and control group D, 40 for each group (20 cocks and 20 hens),group A were fed with basal diets added with 0.5% Chinese herbal medicine, group B were fed with basal diets added with 1.0% Chinese herbal medicine, group C were fed with basal diets added with 1.5% Chinese herbal medicine, control group D were fed with basal diets. The results showed as follows compared with control group, Chinese herbal medicine additive could increase survival rate, the average daily gain, live weigh, slaughter percentage, whole net carcass percentage, breast muscle percentage, leg muscle percentage, pH, meat color, water keep ratio and tenderness, reduce the average daily feed intake, feed conversation ratio and abdominal fat rate, and increase growth performance and improve meat qualities of boiler, and the group B had the best effect.
