Abstract: To localize and detect the distribution of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) in the brain of experimental mouse,we established JEV infection model in mouse and produced paraffin sections using brain tissue. We established indirect immunohistochemical method with monoclonal antibodies of JEV to localize and detect the antigen. Experiment results showed that the method had a high sensitivity and specificity,it demonstrated that JEV infect neurons selectively, the antigen expression were mainly in the brainstem, ganglia and cortex.

Key words: Japanese encephalitis virus; indirect immunohistochemistry; antigen distribution
