Survey on Prevalence of Malassezia Otitis in Beijing

Abstract: Malassezia otitis is a common disease in dogs. The experiment investigated the prevalence of Malassezia otitis in Beijing area. The result of clinical analysis turned out that Malassezia otitis happened through out the year and had seasonality to some extent, with peak time in June and July.Meanwhile there were no significant difference in gender of dogs. In addition,
the susceptibilities of different species to Malassezia otitis showed different characteristics ,with the highest incidence of the disease in Cocker Spaniels and Pekingese, followed by Chow Chow.The age of onset focused on dogs under 5 years old, and there were normally infection in other places when Malassezia infected. It came to the conclusion that the infection happened mostly in the back, followed by face and chest.
