Abstract: From Pengze county in Jiangxi province, 4 strains of Haemophilus parasuis were isolated from swines which were characterized by a fibrinous polyserositis, based on morphologic characteristics, cultural characteristics and biochemical characteristics of Haemophilus parasuis. According to the sequence of bacterial 16S rRNA, a PCR test to diagnose Haemophilus parasuis was developed, and it was used to identify the isolates. The results suggested that the isolates were Haemophilus parasuis. The mice virulence and drug sensitive tests showed that the strains were lethal to mice, sensitive to cefazolin, cefoperazone, chlormycetin and resistive to chemitrim, penicillin.
