Abstract: Bartonella was fastidious gram-negative bacterium, which could cause cat-scratch disease and bacillary angiomatosis in human. Histopathology studies showed that lots of free Bartonella in infected lymph nodes, which indicated that Bartonella was able to escape from host innate immunity or phagocytosis. However, the interaction between Bartonella and macrophage had not been well demonstrated. Here, intracellular survivals of Bartonella tribocorum in J774A,RAW267.4 and C57 mouse peritoneal macrophage were investigated. Gentamycin protection assay demonstrated Bartonella could replicate and survive in 48 hours post infection in J774A, RAW264.7 and C57 mouse peritoneal macrophages, even in LPS induced macrophages.
