Abstract: Spermatogonial stem cell-mediated is to transfer the exogenous genes into the animal spermatogonia and the exogenous genes was integrated into its genome. With the original spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) differentiation into sperm, the exogenous genes were expressed in their own offspring through fertilization. In recent years, people have realized its huge applications prospect and advantages in producing transgenic animals with the deepen research of SSCs. Then, the biological characteristics of SSCs as well as the principle of carrying exogenous gene into animal genome was described to clarify its theoretical mechanisms in preparation of transgenic animals, meanwhile, the research status of spermatogonial stem cell-mediated was introduced, especially for its application in the transgenic goat or sheep production.

Key words: spermatogonial stem cell-mediated; exogenous gene; transgenic sheep
