Abstract: Glycosylation is the most common and most important protein post-translational modification of proteins in organism. It affects the characters and function of proteins significantly. In recent years, more and more drugs have been applied in clinic along with the development of glycobiology and glycosylation engineering. In the paper, we summarized the species of glycosylation modification and their effect on the protein properties. On the basis, the development and application of protein glycosylation engineering in the biological pharmacy were described. Protein glycosylation engineering will inevitably play an increasingly important role in the protein transformation as a new type of protein-modification means.
