Advance in Effect of Inhibin on Animal Reproductive System and its Application in Animal Reproduction

Abstract: Inhibin belongs to the transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) superfamily.Inhibin, produced by granulosa cells and sertoli cells, is a heterodimeric gonadal glycopeptides consisting of a common α-subunit covalently bonded to a unique β-subunit that can be either βA (inhibin A) or βB (inhibin B). Both inhibin A and inhibin B function in an endocrine manner to suppress FSH secretion from gonadotropes in the pituitary.This review focus on the distribution and structure, expression and function of inhibin in male and female, mechanism of action and the procgress of its application in animal reproduction.
