Identification of Toxigenic Pasteurella multocida

Abstract

Abstract: Colony multiplex PCR assays for species，capsular type and dermonecrotic toxin were conducted to identify twenty-eight Pasteurella multocida strains conserved. The results showed that strains C51-6，M-4 and P-2237 were toxigenic Pasteurella multocida，strains C51-6 and P-2237 were serotype D and strain M-4 belonged to serotype A. At the same time，Staphylococcal inhibitory test，neutral acriflavine precipitation and guinea pig skin test were conducted to verify the PCR assays. Based on the ability to utilize mannitol，dulcitol，sorbitol，trehalose and by the production of ornithine decarboxylase，the Pm strain C51-6，M-4 and P-2237 were identified as Pm subsp. multocida. 
