Abstract: 17β-estradiol and progesterone were added into TCM-199 medium to inv
estigate the effects of steroids on the secretion of bovine oviductal epithelial
cells (BOECs) in vitro.The results of 5% SDS-PAGE showed that the steroids could induce the BOEC secretion. When the proteins secreted by BOECs (BOEPs) were added into the cultural medium CZB for mouse embryos, we observed that BOEPs could significantly promote the mouse embryos to develop beyond the 2-cell inhibition and to develop more blastula than the proteins from the adult bovine oviduct (BOP) and the proteins from the calf oviduct (COP) (P<0.001).But the fact that the percentage of mouse blastula in BOEP group was lower than the control suggests the BOEPs be short of some proteins, which could promote the cooperation of many proteins better. In addition, the proteins of 30 kD and 56kD in BOEPs may inhibit the embryonic development.
