Abstract: This experiment was conducted to study the effect of phytase transgenic corn on laying performance and serum biochemical indicators of layer breeders. A single-factor completely randomized design was used in this experiment. A total of 144 27-week-old Hailan (grey) laying breeders were divided into 2 treatments with 8 replicates of 9 chickens per replicate. Chilckens of the control group were fed with isogenic conventional corn(CC) diet, and chickens of the test group were fed with phytase transgenic corn(PTC) diet. During the experiment, the concentrations of all nutrients (containing available phosphorus) in the diet of the two treatments were equal. The experiment lasted for 19 weeks, the preliminary period of the trial was 2 weeks and the trial period was 17 weeks. The results showed that there was no significant difference in laying performance between the two groups (P>0.05). The alkaline phosphatase in serum of the test group was significant higher (P<0.01) than that of the control group, however, there were no significant differences (P>0.05) between the two groups in other serum biochemical indicators. These results indicated that PTC diet had no adverse effects on laying breeders during the experiment period.
