Abstract:
The effect of staple length, live weight after shearing, wool bend score, wool oil score and fiber diameter on greasy weight was analyzed by path analysis using data on 998 Chinese Merino sheep (Xinjiang type) of 12 months of age.The results showed that phenotypic correlation coefficient between the five traits and greasy weight was 0.5552, 0.7048, -0.0759, -0.0917 and
-0.0105, and direct path coefficient of the five traits to greasy weight was 0.2103, 0.6447, -0.0105, 0.0324 and 0.1141, respectively. It was concluded that live weight after shearing was a main factor affecting greasy weight in Chinese Merino Sheep (Xinjiang type).
Key words: Chinese Merino sheep (Xinjiang type); wool traits; path analysis
