Effects of Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins on Antioxidant Enzyme and Breast Meat Quality of Broiler under High Temperature

The present study was conducted to determine the effects of oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) on antioxidant enzyme and breast meat quality of broiler under high temperature. One hundred and forty four 28-day-old broilers were randomly allocated to four treatments and respectively fed with 0,50,100,200 mg/kg OPC. The trial started at Late-July and went on for three weeks. The results of the present study showed that 100,200 mg/kg OPC significantly increased SOD and GSH-Px enzyme activity in serum and liver of broiler (P>0.05), but had no significant effect on CAT. 100,200 mg/kg OPC significantly decreased the serum CK enzyme activity (P<0.05), 50,100 and 200 mg/kg OPC significantly decreased the MDA content in serum and liver (P<0.05). The L* value, drip loss and shear force of broiler breast muscle were also significantly decreased by 100,200 mg/kg OPC (P<0.05). These results indicated that OPC can protect the muscle cell membrane integrity against lipid peroxidation by increasing the antioxidant enzyme activity, and increase of breast meat quality maybe associated with antioxidant activity of OPC.

The feeding trial of pigs and hens which were fed grape seed meal treated by heating or grape seed meal were carried out. The results obtained as followed, the proportion of grape seed meal to be added into diets of preganant sow varying from 4% to 10%, and the proportion of grape seed meal treated by heating to be added into diets of lactating sow being 7%, the sows would get better reproductive performance . The proportion of grape seed meal treated by heating to be added into the diets of pigs at early fattening stage being 3%, and later fattening stage being 6%, the growingfinishing pigs would get better growth performance. It would obtain better laying performance when 6% grape seed meal were added into the diets of hens. 

The objective of this study was to make the trait reconstruction of porcine multiple economic traits and to estimate the heritabilities for reconstructed traits. In this study, the work of trait reconstruction was totally involved in 24 economic traits in the growth, carcass and meat quality, respectively. Principal components analysis (PCA) was used to perform the statistical process of trait reconstruction. Four principal components were taken as novel traits after the statistical analyses. Then, descriptive statistics of four novel reconstructed traits was presented and animal model and DFREML procedures were used to estimate the heritabilities for 4 novel reconstructed traits. The analytical results showed that heritabilities for the first, second, third and fourth principal components were 0.87, 0.58, 0.49 and 0.56, respectively. The results of research showed that the treatment of trait reconstruction not only reduces the dimensionality for multiple economic traits but also results in the trend of higher values of heritabilities for new reconstructed traits, and the strategy for trait reconstruction would accelerate the rate of progress in multitrait breeding.

MicroRNAs are small non-coding RNAs about 16~29 nucleotides in length that regulate gene expression at the post transcriptional level by silencing of target genes. It can cause degradation of target mRNA and inhibit the synthesis of protein in key time of cell degradation, development and apoptosis. Research has revealed that, miRNAs participate in formation, development and many cell signal pathways of malignant tumor as either oncogenes or tumor suppressors. Today the research on association analysis between function of miRNA and formation of cancer becomes a hotspot at home and abroad. This paper summarized the develop mechanism and biological function of miRNA. We also discussed on the major miRNAs related to cancer and gave a predict of diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Feed safety, including feed authenticity, is an important concern related to human health, as well as animal production and environmental issues, resulting in an increasing pressure on governmental policy and different levels of the food production chain. Animal meal, due to its high nutritional value as a mineraland proteinrich additive, is an important ingredient of compound feed in livestock production. Bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) was diagnosed in British cattle in 1986. Current evidence shows that the disease originated from supplementary feed containing meat and/or bone meal contaminated with a scrapielike agent derived from sheep or cattle. In order to avoid a further spread of BSE, and other epidemic diseases, several countries have prohibited the inclusion of different types of animal byproducts in ruminant feed, and in general meat and bone meal(MBM) is prohibited from such use. For the detection of animal materials and their origin identification, several techniques are currently used including microscopy,immunoassay,HPLC and polymerasechainreaction (PCR). The microscope examination is the official method to prove animaloriginated adulterations of feeds, however, it was impossible to identify the species involved, and this technique is time-consuming and requires experienced staff and microscopic equipment. The application of conventional protein based methods, such as enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), Isoelectric focusing and chromatography failed to detect heattreated proteins. Molecular biological techniques allow the demonstration of DNA in heatprocessed samples. The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a very sensitive method and will play an important role for species differentiation soon. Unfortunately, falsepositive results occasionally occur. 

According to the human, chicken and rat sequence of exon 4 of estrogen receptor (ESR) gene, a pair of primer was designed. DNA fragment of exon 4 of Small Tail Han sheep ESR gene was amplified successfully by PCR, and was cloned into pGEM-T Easy vector. The positive clones were further identified by PCR. The nucleotide sequence was detected and the amino acid sequence of this fragment was deduced. The comparison of the fragment of exon 4 of Small Tail Han sheep ESR gene with that of human, cattle, pig, rat and chicken ESR gene showed that the homologies of the nucleotide sequence and amino acid sequence of the fragment with human, cattle, pig, rat and chicken were from 77.68% to 97.28% and from 71.82% to 98.18%, respectively, which indicated that the ESR gene was highly conserved. Nucleotide sequence existed one special variation and the peptide sequence of amino acids 23 to 36 was highly variable in Small Tail Han sheep.

Based on E2 gene sequences of CSFV Shimen published on NCBI, a pair of primers were designed and synthesized for detecting E2 gene. E2 gene was amplified by one step RT-PCR from total RNA, which had been extracted from tissues of pigs doubting infected by classical swine fever virus and PK-15 infected by CSFV F114. We compared IF method with one step RT-PCR which had been established. 24 samples of 26 samples doubting infected by CSFV were positive deteced by one step RT-PCR, the positive rate of one step RT-PCR was 92.3%. Results showed that the RT-PCR is specific and sensitive, and can be used as a method to identify CSFV isolates,detect samples of clinical cases and investigate molecular epidemiology of CSFV.

Foot-and-mouth disease(FMD) is one of the most highly contagious diseases which affects domestic cloven-hoofed animals.And the disease has debilitating effects, including weight loss, decrease in milk production, and loss of draught power,resulting in a loss in productivity for a considerable time.Current methods of disease control include inhibition of animal movement,slaughter of infected and in-contact susceptible animals,and vaccine inoculation.While current vaccine can induce complete protection by 7~10days, in emergency outbreak situations it is imperative to block or reduce virus shedding as rapidly as possible to contain the outbreak, so some antiviral approach were needed to provide protection for sensitive animals and normal animals during the early of after vaccine inoculation.In this article,progress on antiviral approach of foot-and-mouth disease was reviewed, including IFN,antisense technology and RNA interference.

Oral liquid of high immunity york against infectious bursa disease(IBD) was prepared, and its’s protective effect six hundred Shanghai traditional chicken which and antibiotic treatment had no effects on it. Then the chickens were feed with liquid of high immunity york toward IBD(2 ml per bird, two times ach day). After one day, only twelve chicken died, the other Chicken were all recover (the cure rate was 98%). It was showed that the liquid of high immunity york have good clinic effects on IBD. At the same time, feeding liquid of high immunity york orally was also a better immunity approach.

The purified GSTNcSAG1t was used in an enzymelinked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of N caninum antibodies in shepherd dogs from western of Qinghai area. Field serum samples collected from shepherd dogs of Wulan County of Qinghai province were examined for the diagnosis of neosporosis by using the ELISA. Of the 80 analyzed samples from shepherd dogs 25(31.25%)samples were positive for antibodies to N caninum. These results suggest that Neospora caninum were infected in shepherd dogs from Wulan county of Qinghai province.

A strain of lactic acid bacterium was obtained from the sample of 40th day natural Fermentation sauerkraut with MRS medium which was special for isolation of lactic acid bacterium. Systematic identification by classical methods showed that the isolated strain was belong to genus of Lactobacillus,Lactobacillus planetarium. Biological characteristic research including measuring growth curve,pH value and acidity of the lactic acid bacterium showed the results that the logarithmic growing peak was 16th hour, the pH value reached at stable levels after decreasing for 20 hours and the high acidity acidproducing series was 20 hours.The results of bacteria inhibition experiment showed that the separated lactic acid bacterium had remarkable bacteriostasis on the growth of E coli and staphylococcus.As the bacterium had the characters of rapid growth,high acidproduction and bacteriostasis,then we can develop the superior bacterium as micro ecological preparation.
